New social media is dead; the internet is dead

Not too long ago, a friend of mine commented on how blogging and facebook are dead. I echo that sentiment. If I spend more than 10 minutes online, it is probably because I am looking at the selection of motorcycles on motors.ebay.com. I am reminded of the following commercial from 2002. Being from that long ago and referencing the state of the internet (Facebook had yet to appear), the commercial is as pertinent as ever.

Rather than updating this blog or my facebook status, I can now be found theorizing about human behavior and eating sardines in my coat closet.

Hah! Your post sounds like a writing assignment I was given from an IS professor. With the total sum of human knowledge ranking in at 1200 petabytes according to a forecast by IBM the internet should reach this quantity of information by 2035. That being said if the internet is dead, and social media is dead, then the human experience has literally become "boring." Regretfully I believe the opposite to be true - we are boring.

I was following everything you had to say, until the sardines. What is that about?!
I waved at the Granville exit for you on Monday.

Eating sardines? Ew.
